There’s nothing cooler when it comes to coats than mens leather coats. If you are a guy that doesn’t have one, then there’s something seriously wrong with you! I’m not kidding, every guy should own one and that’s all there is to it. You can have any old coat if you want, but why not get something that has a little style and something that will never go out of fashion, ever.
On the page I’m going to talk a little about how to find the right coat for you. I’ll talk about what you can expect to pay, and what you should stay away from in almost every case. I’ll tell you where to look for the best deals and where to find the best coats. We’re guys, we need help with this sort of thing because it doesn’t come natural to us. You’ve come to the right place.
How Much Can You Expect To Pay? Leather coats are tricky in their pricing. You can go to a regular department store like JCPenny’s and find super cheap leather coats. Sometimes you can find them for under a hundred bucks. I highly recommend that you stay away from these coats. Sometimes they are fake leather, and sometimes they are just really low quality leather that will start to look bad almost immediately after you buy them.
Prices for a good one can start at around the low $200 range, but keep an eye out for a coat in the $300 range if at all possible. These are going to be nicer coats that hold up better over time. After that prices rise to around the $500 mark for a pretty good one. After that they tend to shoot into the thousand dollar mark and above for the specially trendy designer brand coats that you see models wearing. I’ve never bought one of these super expensive coats but the leather on them feels almost as soft as silk.
My first coat: The very first leather coat I bought cost me around $150 bucks and I was like 20 years old when I bought it. I remember it because it was the first purchase I ever made on my very first credit card. I was very happy with the coat for a few months, but then the leather started to turn shiny looking. It happened slowly, but in no time at all the leather had a windbreaker look to it and I had to get rid of it.
I learned my lesson well. It pays to spend a few extra dollars for a nice leather coat. These days I don’t even look at a coat unless it is at least $300 dollars. But I will say, the two other coats that I have bought since then (both over $300 each) have held up for many many years. One of them is the coat that I wear everyday and it has held up perfectly for almost seven years of daily use. That’s what you get when you buy one of these kinds of coats. And you know that no matter what the current fashions of the day are, mens leather coats absolutely never go out of style.
